English version below Krukken met stevige handvaten. It’s better to have it slightly higher than too low. The elbow rests should be at least 5 cm below the tip of the elbow. If you find walking with crutches difficult, start carefully. Place the crutches in front of you, and once you’re leaning on them properly, take a small hopping step toward the crutches so that your good foot is positioned between them. This isn’t very efficient, but it’s the safest way to proceed if you’re still having trouble finding your balance. Once that becomes easy, you can, of course, hop past the crutches. If you can put weight on your foot and find it convenient—for example, at home—to walk with one crutch, you should use the crutch on the side of your good foot. That might sound strange, but if your right foot is injured and you use your crutch on the right, the weight you place on the crutch shifts to the right. So your full weight is on the right; if you have the crutch on the left, you distribute your weight. By the way, I don’t need anything, but the last few times I received flowers. That doesn’t make me happy, and they’re also bad for the environment. So please, no flowers. :-) A bottle of wine is welcome.-) If I’m slow to respond, you can also email me at fv at kw dot nl.
